Jane Shepherdson is the CEO of Whistles and a friend of People Tree. We’re glad to share with you her Top 5 Picks of the People Tree collection…

“My style is quite androgenous, and for the summer I love classic simple pieces, so I’ve chosen the following to get me through the long hot summer to come.. or even a short cool one.. !!
1. Stripey boat top £25.. I am slightly obsessed by stripey tops, they just seem to work with everything and exude French Chic.. This one is a classic..
2. Kezia Harem trouser £35.. These are perfect for my holiday, worn with strappy flat sandals and a sloppy white T-shirt.. At last there is a new alternative to cut off jeans!
3. Bora Aksu Umbrella pod dress £65. Bora Aksu has done some beautiful pieces for People Tree and this one is no exception. I love the cocoon shape, and the colour, as I’m not really into very feminine styles.
4. The Tansy shirtdress designed by Jessica Ogden is another great holiday piece, and not too pretty for me. I’ll probably wear it with an old pair of denim shorts and white plimsoles.
5. I love the Michael Check Shirt £45, even though it’s actually in the menswear collection. Its a really lovely deep blue, and will work very well with most of my wardrobe, worn over a white t shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a pair of jeans.
Bursting with style our Spring/Summer collection has arrived!
The collection was photographed in South Hill Park in Bracknell, Berkshire, where People Tree founder Safia Minney grew up. This setting perfectly showcases the handcrafted clothes that feature motifs from nature: leaves, flowers and spotty prints, and the patterns are clever; expertly cut frills, twists and pleats.
This season’s collection is brimming with gorgeous dresses with our signature sash ties, such as the sunflower dress that has been handblock printed in India, as well as an array of tunic dresses in bold colours, handwoven check prints and natural pastels. We have also expanded our knitwear into sustainable banana fibre – see our azalea jumper.
With the constant demand for wearable Fair Trade fashion at work, we have increased our range of blouses and smart everyday trousers alongside our usual casual wear of ribbed vest and granddad tops. Plus, we have a timeless range of homewear and underwear, from relaxed bras to our lovely baby doll slips.
We’re delighted to welcome Karen Nicol as one of our designers who has created a beautiful range for SS10, focusing on beautifully embroidered tunics and knitted dresses including a gorgeous pom pom cardigan. You can meet Karen along with all our designers in the Meet the Designer section.
We also have playful designs by Jessica Ogden, including handscreen printed cloud designs on tops and blouses, and the cute Susi balloon skirt which is the perfect combination with sandals or heels for when the sun comes out!
Our long-term partner Bora Aksu has a wonderful mix with his latest umbrella-themed collection for People Tree. The Roisin Umbrella Dress with its feminine bow and poplin and jersey fabrics is a classic capsule wardrobe piece in grey and black and has received a lot of press attention.
We’re smartening up the men’s collection, with a highlight this season being the Fancy Bow Tie Shirt that can be worn in many ways. There’s also inspired statement design tees from 999 design which highlights and maps urban migration.
Our babies and kidswear collection is a friendly array of farmyard friends from pigs to cows to bunny rabbits in subtle pastel colours of pink, green and eco white, designed by Chris Houghton.
