Geetie and her lovely daughter Mabel

Geetie and her lovely daughter Mabel

Geetie runs the Duke of Cambridge the award winning gastro pub that serves organic and seasonal food.  I met Geetie on a shoot – she was ‘modelling’ with me for some Women of Tomorrow/Social Entrepreneurs/Cool Chicks/Feminine Economics magazine article – we were standing in a studio looking a bit awkward – as we’re not models. She looked gorgeous and they were forcing her into conventional fashion (I’d told the editor I’d only wear Fair Trade fashion!) and I knew she’d prefer to wear People Tree too! We got talking and haven’t stopped since.

We hang out in organic food pubs and cafe’s cooking up strategies on how to change the world and Geeties also agreed to become a People Tree Foundation trustee.

Saf and cook book

Safia with Geetie's new cook book

Despite her hectic schedule Geetie has found time to write a book along with Sara Berg, her Chef at the Duke of Cambridge. There’s 160 pages packed full of recipes for the most delicious food you could imagine along with really helpful guidance on when produce is in season. As well treating us all to those priceless recipes there’s a fabulous introduction giving you the background to Geetie, the rise of the Duke as well as great tips from how to spot a great fishmonger with sustainably harvested fish to the benefits of eating organic (Geetie’s book is for meat eaters too –I’m veggie so I’m buying it for friends who are not vegetarian!).

Reading about Geetie’s childhood where she grew her own fruit and veg you can see her path in life was set from the beginning and lucky for us it was. If you aren’t fortunate enough to live near the Duke of Cambridge then ‘Geetie’s Cookbook’ will let you create a little bit of it’s magic at home.

People Tree has two signed copies of ‘Geetie’s Cookbook’ to give away. Just tell us the answer to the following question;

Q. On what street in London is the Duke of Cambridge?

Email your answer to competition@peopletree.co.uk before 18th June 2010. Two winners will be selected at random from all correct entries.

Geetie has also given us her top picks from the People Tree summer collection.
