Meet the Designers
Each season we work closely with some fantastic designers to bring clothes which prove that Fair Trade fashion can be beautiful as well as vital to our planet and its people.
It has been a pleasure working with Bora Aksu, Jessica Ogden and Karen Nicol and you can see the results in our shop .
Safia Minney, People Tree’s founder, spoke to them about their collection with People Tree and their inspiration behind working with us. You can read these conversations by browsing through the left hand side bar.
Karen Nicol is known for designing for Clements Ribiero, Marcus Lupfer and Jasper Conran and so we were thrilled when she designed some pieces for People Tree’s Spring/Summer 2010 Collection. People Tree founder Safia Minney caught up with her in her workshop to discuss her extensive career, the importance of craft, and the collection’s hand knitted production in Nepal.
SAFIA MINNEY How did you first become aware and interested in People Tree?
JESSICA OGDEN I try and keep aware of brands working with Fair Trade ethics as I think it will be an area in fashion that will grow as people become more aware of the mistreatment of workers that results in cheap clothing.
Bora Aksu, formerly four time winner of the Topshop New Generation prize, tells People Tree founder Safia Minney why he loves green and Fair Trade fashion and partners with People Tree.
