Spring into action with skirts & knit cardies

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

The daffodils and crocuses are shooting out of the ground here in the UK, which is the perfect cue for donning fresh Spring/Summer garb.

The sun’s not quite out enough to completely reveal bare arms (or is it) While we’re making up our mind about that, we’ve got the perfect easy Spring outfits to ensure you stay bright. The trend this season, influenced by Dolce & Gabanna and Moschino among others, encourages either bursts of colour amongst cooler shades or repetitious and romantic floral and checked prints.

Jessica Ogden for People Tree’s range offers a unique testimony to the season’s amorous trend with the Cloud Print Top, a beautiful hand screen printed cloud design smock top that combines harmoniously with the Elana Pocket Skirt of chambray with its embroidered balloon design detail.

But you may also want to a bold statement, and our handwoven Check Mini Skirt in hot pink, or our satin poplin knee-length all-colour Scarlet Skirt, made with 100% organic Fairtrade certified cotton will do just that.

Keep it fresh

Fresh white or neutral tones on top will give your colourful styles a clean expression, so complement them with our eco white, sleeveless Daffodil Layered Top, or the Zinnia Collar Top, with its subtleties of dobby lace stripe fabric.

The Yasmin Blouse with its textured stripe cotton and gorgeous square neck line is great if you want to complete this look with a chain necklace, such as our Pastel Flower Necklace, the lovely Honey Bee Necklace in brass or silver. Or, why not take on the full set with three piece brass and bead jewellery of the Pastel and Leaf Necklace, Earrings and Bracelet?

Neatly knitted

For colder days, a knit cardigan over your outfit will do the trick and our own Karen Nicol for People Tree collection offers the Fleur Pom Pom Cardigan is a timeless piece to treasure in any wardrobe, with its hand knitted flowers bursting out of the shoulder. For more laid back attire with its front pockets, the long sleeved open knit Poppy Cardigan still as girly as it is practical. The Angelica Tank Tap is also wonderful to slouch around in too!

Not a fan of skirts?

Sherbert shades are back this springtime and we have these in abundance. The Holly Ruffle Top or Hazel Tunic Top make great additions to trousers if you’re not yet encouraged with expose your legs. Karen Nicol for People Tree’s Mali Tunic Dress provides another snug and elegant alternative with its hand knitted approach, coming in either natural with strawberry detail or green with peapods. This can be comfortably worn over our fitted 100% organic jersey Lotus Leggings.

Dress up, dress down

You can add a touch of sporty chic with a crinkly scarf such as the Diamond Print Scarf or Blush Woven Scarf and a pair of plimsolls (check out Veja and Ethletic for inspiration). While you’re at it, add our jute cotton oversized Falling Leaf Bag into the mix.
